About the Band:
Butcher Boy likes a world where evenings unfold from blue to pink to black to grey. Where cranes tug horizons. Where solemnity is a virtue. Where the height of civilization is resting your head in a loved one's lap.

Butcher Boy likes the precision of a scalpel and a metal rule. Butcher Boy finds October overrated, but concedes that it is definitely preferable to January. Butcher Boy would trade almost anything at any time to be standing by the flagpole in Queens Park as the light changes. Butcher Boy finds that nothing brings greater joy than dancing to favourite records. These records become part of Butcher Boy's world.

Butcher Boy welcomes growing old! Butcher Boy welcomes the quietness that it brings.

Butcher Boy likes dust.

Butcher Boy is very aware that voicing these things may be taken the wrong way. But Butcher Boy is fearful of the cool contempt of irony. And Butcher Boy digs the cafe culture.

There are situations you can engineer and better places to start. People framed in doorways. Silent Saturday evenings when the sun setting makes it seem as if the house is on fire. Closing your eyes and listening to the first Smiths record.

These are things that knock us to our knees.

Release Notes:
Glasgow Butcher Boy return with their 2nd LP, again, on London How Does It Feel To Be Loved? record label.

The band are led by John Blain Hunt and it's his intelligent lyrical song writing that makes you sit up and take notice when you slip 'React Or Die' into your CD player.

Butcher Boy's sound continues in the classic Glasgow vein -think Belle and Sebastian at their most potent. This is pop music that transports you to a sepia tinted world. A world where Morrissey and kitchen sink dramas take centre stage. The sleeve echoes classic Smiths whilst being thoroughly Butcher Boy - they're becoming very adept at building a world which you can easily slip into.

The LP rewards with repeated plays much in the way that their debut release did. Picking favourites is hard as the LP sits together as a complete whole. The most notable change is the way the production brings every nuance of the songs to the fore. This is classic indie pop - but this is no low budget recording. 'React Or Die' sounds like a labour of love and indeed it has taken a full year to realise. I fear protracted records as it can ultimately lead to an over egging of the cake where what was great about a band is stripped away. Thankfully this isn't the case here, as every song sounds fully formed and effortlessly made.

The LP is proceeded by a download only single Arvie A Pattern?on February 9th. React Or Die?is available top re-order now from the How Does It Feel To Be Loved? website -and will be in shops in April.
