Release Notes:
"Deeply resonating folkapocalyptica from the lead-singer of Bellowhead. Jon Boden's second solo album... builds on the critical success of 2006's Painted Lady in bold style. In it he imagines a rural community surviving in the aftermath of apocalyptic turmoil, coming to terms with what they have lost and confronting the new order, alongside the everyday concerns of love, loss, fear and hope. The subject matter is dark but the songs are surprisingly upbeat, catchy and often uplifting."

Polly Scattergood - Polly Scattergood 2009
Artist:Polly Scattergood
Title:Polly Scattergood
Label:MUTE
Genre:Indie
Release:2009.03.09
Myspace:http://www.myspace.com/pollyscattergood
Tracks:
1.I Hate The Way
2.Other Too Endless
3.Untitled 27
4.Please Don't Touch
5.I Am Strong
6.Unforgiving Arms
7.Poem Song
8.Bunny Club
9.Nitrogen Pink
10.Breathe In Breathe Out
Release Notes:
She is a Brit School graduate, but Polly Scattergood couldn't be further removed from her contemporaries. An Essex girl who finds a disquieting delight in suicide, she is Sylvia Plath to Katie Melua's Pam Ayres.
Scattergood is no overnight success story either. Her first single, Glory Hallelujah, came out in 2005, but it was the startling electro-symphony Nitrogen Pink, released in September 2007, that made the 22-year-old one to watch.
But while she is experimental on record, Scattergood is hesitant and shy in person. She tip-toes on stage, and meets wolf whistles, inspired by her Blondie tendrils and black puffball dress, with a nervous smile.
When she sings, Scattergood channels her fear into achingly intimate pleas and powerful rages. Her trembling voice recalls Kate Bush and Tori Amos, her arms wafting around her head, hands clawing the air, visibly wrestling with the insecurities and bitter imagery that litter her songs.
Yet stripped of her usual backing, Scattergood's uniquely skewered songwriting and versatile voice shine brighter, and the solo effort loosens her up. Her usual suffering is swapped for swinging hips during the poppy Please Don't Touch. Bu tit's Nitrogen Pink that prompts her broadest smiles, as she senses escape is near.
Her self-titled album is due for release March 9th 2009 on Mute Records and check out herwww.myspace.com/pollyscattergood for her future gigs.I'm personally loving album already!

Red - Innocence & Instinct 2009
Band:Red
Album:Innocence & Instinct
Label:Essential Records/Sony BMG
Release:2009.02.10
Release:2009.02.10
Genre:Hard Rock/Alt. Metal/Christian Rock
Myspace:http://www.myspace.com/dropofred
Tracks:
01 - Fight Inside
02 - Death Of Me
03 - Mystery Of You
04 - Start Again
05 - Never Be The Same
06 - Confession (What's Inside My Head)
07 - Shadows
08 - Ordinary World
09 - Out From Under
10 - Take It All Away
Release Notes:
Still riding the momentum of its huge-selling Grammy-nominated debut album End of Silence, Red returns with Innocence & Instinct,a provocative new album forged in a perfect storm of inspiration and catastrophe. From the literary spark of Dante's Inferno to the bloody aftermath of a 75-mph highway crash, Red absorbed a flood of ideas and emotions that empowered the band to create next generation rock songs. Finding the sonic sweet spot where epic and primal converge, Innocence & Instinct features animated dynamics that super-charge its innocence vs. instinct theme.
"Innocence & Instinct is about the duality of man," explains guitarist Jasen Rauch. "The album examines the fight between our childlike innocence and the instinctive side that makes us do things we shouldn't."
The group's debut, which sold over a quarter-million copies and earned several awards and nominations, focused heavily on personal struggles. Bringing back Silence producer Rob Graves and mixer BenGrosse (Sevendust, Disturbed, Depeche Mode), Innocence & Instinct goes a giant step further by tackling the fight itself. It's about the dueling impulses that wage war within our souls.
In writing the album, Red found Inferno to be an illuminating guide. The literary classic, which starts with Dante and Virgil standing before the Gates of Hell, illustrated ways in which the band might tackle deep issues in a more poetic way. And if Dante enhanced the storytelling, a highway crash in late '07 accelerated the band's emotional core. As the tour van smashed into a guardrail and violently slid sideways across the highway, the band experienced new heights of horror that they channeled into Innocence & Instinct.
"It brought an intensity and depth that we couldn't reach with outgoing through this experience," Rauch reflects. "In the months after the accident, it felt like everything was in overdrive."
"In a split second, it changed our lives," adds six-stringer Anthony Armstrong, whose twin brother Randy handles the band's bass lines.
Setting the tone early, "Fight Inside" rides beautiful piano keys to an unforgettable chorus as glaring agitation builds to a savage finish. The song epitomizes the album's effortless transitions between simmering angst, melodic hooks and pretty major-key resolves, while its inner-monologue sets up the lyrical theme by cursing the frail duality of innocence and instinct. "Death of Me"furthers the first-person schizophrenia as vocalist Michael Barnes cries "You tear me down and then you pick me up" against aback drop of deafening guitars, sweeping symphonics and nerve-rattling screams. "Shadows," co-written by Ben Burnley of Breaking Benjamin, pushes against the darkness while "Out From Under" could be called Fight Club with guitars.
"There are moments that switch between never feeling so close to someone to never feeling so abandoned, but that's part of the human experience," says Rauch. "These extreme feelings, these paradoxes, coexist all the time."
While several songs veer toward an internal apocalypse, "Never Be the Same" personifies Innocence with optimistic reflections poured out over lush fields of electric and acoustic guitars. The piano-powered "Start Again" addresses the conflicted remorse of afailed relationship, while "Mystery of You" ponders the inexplicable over industrial-strength loops and keys. Innocence &Instinct even features a juiced-up cover of Duran Duran's Utopian"Ordinary World."
Formed in Nashville, Tennessee over four years ago, Red made an immediate impact with its 2006 debut, End of Silence. The Grammy-nominated disc, featuring the radio hits "Breathe Into Me"(Top 10, Active Rock) and "Already Over" (Top 15, Active Rock),introduced the sonic layering, rich orchestration and visceral dynamics that became Red's signature sound. The album steadily built momentum cracking the Billboard 200 a year after its release as sales steadily broke out to hundreds of thousands of copies sold. Not surprisingly, the album became a hit with other bands as well, leading to tours and shows with Papa Roach, Sevendust, Three Days Grace, Flyleaf, Buck cherry and Seether, among others. These opportunities contributed to the band's impressive 500+ live show schedule between albums.
Heading into Innocence & Instinct, Red had no shortage of creative sparks. A near-death accident ignited their emotions, a literary masterpiece spurred their creativity, peer support lifted their spirits, heavy touring empowered their performances and fans challenged the group to do even more to impact their lives. These experiences infused Innocence & Instinct with layered narratives, heightened sensibilities and an artistic boldness that dramatically raises the bar for new millennial rock 'n' roll.
In Dante's Inferno, the Gates of Hell read, "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here." But when the Gates finally face Innocence &Instinct, Hell won't know what hit it.

Notes:
Robyn Hitchcock is one of England's most enduring contemporary singer/songwriters and live performers. Despite having been persistently branded as eccentric or quirky for much of his career, Hitchcock has continued to develop his whimsical repertoire, deepen his surreal catalog, and expand his devoted audience beyond the boundaries of cult stature. He is among alternative rock's father figures and is the closest thing the genre has to a Bob Dylan (not coincidentally his biggest inspiration). Starting his career as a folkie in the Cambridge England, Hitchcock has been compared to his fellows in British folk-rock, Roy Harper and the Incredible String Band, specifically because of his acoustic guitar and loopy vocal style, though his rock voice bears shades of John Lennon and Syd Barrett. Switching gears early to front the Soft Boys, a punk-era band specializing in melodic, chiming jangle pop and clever lyrics (Underwater Moonlight remains a classic of the genre), it wasn't long before he quit the band life and made his solo debut. Black Snake Diamond Role (1981) confirmed his reputation as an oddball thanks to his titles "Brenda's Iron Sledge" and "Acid Bird," among others. The psychedelia of Groovy Decay (1982) followed, as did the all-acoustic I Often Dream of Trains (1984). By 1985, Hitchcock's unpredictable songsmithing coalesced on Fegmania! Later that year, the live document Gotta Let This Hen Out! demonstrated his command of the stage. In 1988, he landed his first major U.S. label contract with A&M Records and followed by releasing the ambitious Globe of Frogs (1988) and Queen Elvis (1989). He continued to record (Perspex Island, 1991 and Respect, 1993) and receive college radio airplay, though once the momentum of the A&M years begun to lag, Hitchcock bounced back in 1996 with the return to form Moss Elixir (Warner Brothers) which embraced his folk roots. Storefront Hitchcock, the soundtrack to the Jonathan Demme-directed concert film, followed in 1998. Upon release from his contract with Warner Bros., Hitchcock self- released A Star for Bram (Editions PAF! 2000), a collection of outtakes and leftover recordings from the Jewels for Sophia (1999) sessions. In 2002 he released Robyn Sings, a double-disc collection of Bob Dylan songs culled from various live appearances in America and abroad during 1999-2000. The stripped-down Luxor followed in 2003, released in conjunction with his 50th birthday. In 2004, he took not only a bit role in Jonathan Demme's remake of The Manchurian Candidate, but released Spooked (Yep Roc Records) a one-off collaboration with alternative country artists Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, recorded over a period of six days in Nashville. 2005 saw the release of a Japanese-only compilation of his work while 2006 offered This Is the BBC, a collection of his BBC sessions from the '90s, as well as Ol? Tarantula, a new batch of surreal pop tunes recorded with members of the Minus 5. Hitchcock delved back into the archives for 2008's Shadow Cat, a collection of unreleased material from the latter half of the '90s.
